CBM2 Engages Young Minds at the Carnival of Chemistry

CBM2 participated in the Carnival of Chemistry, November 19, 2023, a lively event hosted by the KU Department of Chemistry and the KU Chemistry Club. Eager school children and their families had the unique opportunity to delve into the world of science through hands-on activities facilitated by CBM2 researchers, and lead by Dr. Witek, Maggie.

During the event, CBM2's interactive session captivated young minds as they guided participants through the exciting process of extracting DNA from a strawberry. Children were thrilled to witness the magic of science unfold before their eyes, gaining insights into the fascinating world of genetics.

Not stopping there, the CBM2 team also demonstrated how to fabricate a microfluidic chip, bridging the gap between cutting-edge technology and accessible learning. Kids had the chance to mold a microfluidic channel using play dough, providing a tangible experience of how plastic is molded into intricate microfluidic chips.

These engaging activities not only sparked curiosity but also showcased the hands-on and dynamic approach to science that CBM2 advocates for.
