Community Outreach

Prof. Soper Speaks to SGSL

Prof. Steve Soper spoke to a crowd of about 60 members of the New Generation Society of Lawrence on Wednesday, September 25, 2019, in the Lawrence, Kansas Watkins Museum of History. In this community outreach program, Dr. Soper discussed his group’s research on technology which can diagnose several types of cancer from a single blood test, using a microfluidic chip that is about the size of a credit card. This technology offers a low-cost, minimally invasive and accurate test.
The New Generation Society of Lawrence, in partnership with the Hall Center for the Humanities at the University of Kansas, is “devoted to providing its membership with opportunities to pursue life-long learning, staying active in the Lawrence community, and supporting philanthropic causes.”
Please see Dr. Soper’s presentation slides in the accompanying link.
